Dental Care - Your Pet Has Teeth Too!!!

From a letter sent to a dog owner

It has come to our attention that many of the pets who regularly visit our practice are not receiving proper dental care. Pets need routine professional and home dental care.
Cavities are not common in dogs and cats--but, periodontal disease is a frequent problem. (Periodontal refers to the gum tissue and bone around the teeth.) Left unchecked poor dental health can lead to loss of teeth and infections throughout your pet's body. Furthermore, dental disease produces toxins which can damage your pet's vital organs.
Prevention is ideal and it's never too early to start your animal on a regular program of dental hygiene. Regular veterinary physical exams are a key part of any preventive program. We would encourage you to call and make an appointment to have (your dog) checked for any dental problems.

Thank you for your patronage and we hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,
Dr. Larry F. Bosma DVM
